SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team completed a successful Zone IV Finals showing on Saturday, April 5th at the Harriet Howell Rodgers Riding Center.
Sophomore
Audrey Flattich (Statesboro, Ga.) was crowned Champion in the Limit Flat class to secure her first trip to Nationals.
Also earning spots at Nationals were juniors
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and
Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) and sophomore
Rachel Chard (Avon, Conn.) who were named Reserve Champions in Open Fences, Novice Flat and Intermediate Flat, respectively.
Sophomore
Ainsley John Darling (Virginia Beach, Va.) also had a strong outing on Saturday as she took home third place in Introductory Flat.
Rounding out the field of individual competitors at Zones for the Vixens were senior
Katelyn Jones (Richmond, Texas) who placed seventh in Limit Fences and junior
Ash Burnett (Smyrna, Del.) who also came seventh in Novice Flat.
Highlights
- Atherton, Chard and Jones will all head to Nationals for the first time in their careers.
- With Flattich being crowned Champion in Limit Flat, Sweet Briar has now had a class Champion in back-to-back Zone Finals.

IHSA Nationals will be held May 3-5 at the Tyron International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C.
