SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College cross country team ran its first home meet of the season this morning, placing second in the 5K race.

Carolina Wilson (Hedgesville, W. Va.) once again led the Vixens across the line with her time of 23:33.61 putting her in fourth place overall.
She was followed by senior
Angelyn Wiggins (Churchville, Md.), who placed ninth after completing the race in 24:53.72.
Fellow senior
Alia Peets nabbed a 12th-place finish thanks to her time of 27:33.08 while junior
Etaf Jumaa (Katy, Texas) recorded a time of 29:17.50 to come in 15th.
Finishing behind Jumaa was fellow junior
Asmita Bhandari (Naudanda, Nepal) in 16th and first-year
Lucy Edwards (Culpeper, Va.) with times of 30:08.22 and 34:39.13, respectively.
"The Sweet Briar women did well today on their home course! Souther Virginia University had a competitive women's roster and I wanted to see us compete with them and have our top two runners in their top five. Asmita has a 5K PR and Lucy finished her second collegiate race well. Etaf and Alia continue to improve and compete well, succeeding in their competitive goals against Hollins' roster."
Head Coach, Joanna Friesen
