RUSTBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team, reigning Zone IV Region 4 Champions, had a successful Region 4 Finals appearance today at the Liberty Equestrian Center as three riders advanced to Zone IV Finals. Additionally, head coach
Lizzie Fisch was crowned Region 4 Coach of the Year and fifth-year
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) was awarded the Lauren Burns Memorial Sportsmanship Award.
Juniors
Cameron Fox (Williamsburg, Va.) and
Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.) were both named Zone IV, Region 4 champions in their respective classes and advanced to Zone Finals. Fox took home the title in introductory while Pastula earned honors in both limit fences and limit flat.
Also advancing to Zone IV Finals is fellow junior
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) who claimed the title of reserve champion in open fences.
Senior
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) captured a third-place finish for the Vixens in intermediate flat while also placing fourth in intermediate fences. Meanwhile, Southard rode to a fourth-place finish in intermediate flat.
Both seniors
Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) and
Isabella Paul (Conyers, Ga.) placed fifth in limit flat and novice flat, respectively.
Rounding out the field of competitors for Sweet Briar was junior
Davis Shiflett (Louisa, Va.) who came sixth in novice flat.
Highlights
- Fisch has been named Zone IV Region 4 Coach of the Year for the second time in her career after earning the honor in 2023.
- Fox, Pastula and Booth will all see action at Zone IV Finals for the first time in their careers.

Zone IV Finals will take place at the Smithfield Horse Center in Blacksburg, Va. on April 5th.
