LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College outdoor track & field team continued to improve upon the 2025 season with multiple new personal records set at today's Randolph Invitational.
The day's schedule of events kicked off with field events which saw first-year
Veronica Barney (Leesburg, Va.) begin her day with a 12th-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 9.13m.
In the long jump, Barney also placed 12th with a jump of 4.39m while senior
Molly Booth finished right behind her after traversing a distance of 3.97m.
Three Vixens saw new personal bests in the hammer throw. Junior
Jaiana Gray (Chicago, Ill.) led the way with a PR of 28.78m to finish in 18th. Sophomore
Quinn Gorman (Leesburg, Va.) and first-year
Kathleen Borum (Chesapeake, Va.) recorded throws of 22.01m and 14.30m, respectively.
Senior
Olivia Garrett (Williamsburg, Va.) rounded out the field in the event with her throw of 13.50m.
Gray also placed first for Sweet Briar in the shot put with her throw hitting the 8.89m mark. She was followed by Gorman whose throw of 7.83m placed her in 14th. Garrett's throw distance of 6.01m marked a new personal best and she was followed on the results sheet by first-year
Michaela Carr (Springfield, Va.) who threw 5.56m and Borum who threw 5.34m.
The 100-meter dash was the first track event of the day to get underway. First-year
Electra McPherson (Madison Heights, Va.) crossed the finish line ahead of any other Vixen runner with a time of 13.82.
Booth and first-year
Mila Mutabdzija (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) also contested the race and turned in times of 14.72 and 15.96, respectively.
In the 1500-meter run, sophomore
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) placed 34th with her time of 6:07.71 while senior
Alia Peets (Devonshire, Bermuda) clocked in a time of 1:08.77 in the 400-meter dash to finish in eighth.
Both Viccora and sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.) saw action in the 800-meter run. Viccora placed 21st with her time of 2:57.08 and Scherrer recorded a personal-best time of 3:36.30 to finish in 23rd.
The invitational wrapped up with the 200-meter dash which saw three Sweet Briar entries. McPherson led the way in 15th thanks to her time of 29.29 with Peets and Mutabdzija finishing close to one another with times of 30.52 and 32.70, respectively.
Highlights
- Gray's throw of 28.78m in the hammer throw marks a new program record.
- The 4x100 relay team of Peets, Barney, Booth and McPherson set a new program record with their time of 54.82.

The Vixens will head to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championships, April 25th – 26th, in Harrisonburg, Va.
