HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Sweet Briar College cross country team kicked off the 2025 season with action at the EMU Heritage Cross Country Invitational today, placing fourth.
Leading the way for the Vixens was first-year
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.), who crossed the finish line in 19th at the 23:06.1 mark.
She was followed across the line by fellow first-year
Ella Cate Johnson (Henderson, N.C.), whose time of 23:58.2 put her in 25th.
First-year
Shiloh Thompson (Ruckersville, Va.) finished her first collegiate race with a time of 25:18.1 while first-years
Jillian Francis (Montgomery, Texas) and
Nora Bruinooge (Cape Cod, Mass.) rounded out the field for Sweet Briar, finishing one after the other.
Highlights
- Sherline's time of 23:06.1 is the 16th-fastest 5k time recorded in program history.
- All five members of the team completed their first collegiate race today.
What's Next
The Vixens will next compete in their home 6k race on Sept. 13th.
