The Sweet Briar Vixen volleyball team fought the Quakers of
Guilford College yesterday in Sweet Briar's Williams Gymnasium.
The Vixens had many competitive rallies with the Quakers, but
could not stay consistent with their offensive opportunities. They
lost in three with scores 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20.
Vixen highlights include some aggressive offense from senior
Cassidy Jones (Rustburg, Va.) with a team high of 9 kills, and 21
assists from junior Alexis Rukenbrod (Laurel, Md.). Teammate
Ashley Winters ('11/Mechanicsville, Va.) had great effort on both
sides with 25 total attacks and 7 defensive digs for the
Vixens. First-year player Andra Brumfield (Altavista, Va.)
led defensively with a team high of 8 digs for the night.
Sweet Briar volleyball will close out their season at home on
Tuesday as they host Hollins University at 6:30pm in Williams
Gymnasium.
