BUENA VISTA, Va.- Playing their second match in three days, the Sweet Briar College tennis team traveled to Southern Virginia University on Thursday afternoon. The Knights emerged victorious in a back-and-forth match, 5-4.

The match started on a high note for SBC, taking two of the three doubles courts. AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge took court one over Makaela Adamson and Lauren Morrison, 8-6. Not to be outdone, Emily Wandling and Samantha Yew won on court two over Micah Morse and Natalie Teets by the same scoreline.

Wandling won her fifth-straight and eighth overall singles match of the season with a 6-2, 6-0 drubbing of Morse on court two.

Rutledge, a senior from Germanton, N.C., picked up a big win on court three. After dropping the first set 1-6, she fought back and won the next two sets for her third singles victory of the season. 

After playing six of their seven matches in the month of March on the road, Sweet Briar will return home for four of their next five matches, beginning on Friday, April 7, when they host Randolph College at 3 p.m. The match will take place at Amherst Middle School, where the Vixens are a perfect 3-0 this season.
