SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar IHSA team was named High Point Team today, besting seven other programs that came to the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
The Vixens saw success across the board while competing against Christopher Newport, Liberty, Mary Washington, Randolph-Macon, Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth and William & Mary.
Junior
Sita Moses (Dublin, N.H.) became the second Sweet Briar rider to qualify for regionals after finishing second in the novice flat class.
First-years
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.),
Paige Kennedy and
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) also nabbed first place finishes in intermediate fences, limit fences and limit flat, respectively.
An additional nine Vixens earned top-5 finishes, topping the eleven top-5 finishes from last week's show at William & Mary.
Highlights
- Along with Moses seniorr Madeline Rucker (Midlothian, Va.), who finished second in the pre-novice flat class in today's show, will be heading to regionals .
- Senior Chloe Kerschl (Lexington, Va.) earned two third place finishes in both open fences and open flat.
- First-year Julianna McIntyre (Englewood, Fla.) and junior Anne Rucker (Midlothian, Va.) both finished third in the introductory flat class.
What's Next
Sweet Briar will head to the Liberty University Equestrian Center in Rustburg, Va. on Oct. 9.
