SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Five members of the Sweet Briar IHSA team qualified for Zone IV Finals after competing at the Region 4 Finals today at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
Seniors
Chloe Kerschl (Lexington, Va.),
Anne Rucker (Midlothian, Va.) and
Madeline Rucker (Midlothian, Va.), junior
Sita Moses (Dublin, N.H.) and sophomore
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.) qualified for zones after finishing first in open fences, second in intro flat, first in intro flat, first in novice flat, and second in open flat, respectively.
Both seniors
Abby Bell (Stafford, Va.) and
Jen Markey (Montpelier, Va.) earned fourth-place finishes with Bell competing in novice flat and Markey competing in limit flat.
Adding to the excitement of the day was the official awarding of the region champion trophy to the IHSA team.
Highlights
- Kerschl will head to zone finals for the third-straight year after qualifying for the show in 2019 in intermediate flat and 2020 in open flat.
- Sweet Briar will send the most riders to the Zone IV Finals in program history.
What's Next
The Vixens will head to the St. Andrew's University Equestrian Center in Laurinburg, N.C. for the Zone IV Finals on April 9.
