BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Sweet Briar cross country team competed in its second meet of the season this morning as the team placed fourth at the Bridgewater Cross Country Invitational.
First-year
Elaina Sherline (Morehead City, N.C.) crossed the finish line first for the Vixens, placing ninth with a time of 29:11.96.
Both first-years
Shiloh Thompson (Ruckersville, Va.) and
Ella Cate Johnson (Henderson, N.C.) finished within the top-20 as well with times of 30:35.85 and 32:05.23 placing them in 12th and 17th, respectively.
Junior
Amanda Costa (Watertown, N.Y.) recorded a time of 36:24.44 to finish in 21st while first-year
Jillian Francis came in 22nd after finishing the 6k race at the 38:08.80 mark.
Highlights
- All five Vixens contested a 6k race for the first time in their collegiate careers.
- Sherline is the first Vixen to finish in the top-10 of a race since Carolina Wilson '25 placed first at the Sweet Briar Invitaitonal in 2023.
What's Next
The Vixens will compete at the JMU Invitational on Sept. 26th.
