Box Score Eight different Vixens scored as the Sweet Briar soccer team dominated Hollins 9-0 on Saturday, starting a season 4-0 for the first time in program history.
Sophomore Emily Welch led the way with two goals and an assist, while Kayla Kishbaugh (goal, assist) and Patricia Garrett (goal) also continued their four-game point streaks.
Other goalscorers for the Vixens were Leyte McNealus, Stephanie Scott, Ashley Federico, Alicia Wooten and Jax Bullett.
Sweet Briar held a 43-3 advantage in shots and won 17 corners to Hollins' zero.
Hollins goalie Audrey Haisley made 18 saves, while the Vixen defense of Bullet, Marissa McCord, Kelsey Barta and Scott did not allow a shot on goal against Vixen keeper Katie Tillson.
Sweet Briar led 3-0 in the first five minutes against a shorthanded Hollins squad, and 8-0 at halftime.
The Vixens struck in the 4th, 5th and 6th minutes. Welch opened the scoring off a cross from Scott, with Federico and Garrett adding two more over the next 92 seconds.
Wooten took a corner kick 13 minutes in, and then received a pass in the ensuing play and finished for a 4-0 SBC advantage.
The Vixens had another three-goal spurt in just over two minutes, later in the first half. Welch started it off by assisting Scott, and finished the run with a goal off Melissa Wert's assist. In between, Kishbaugh also tallied for the visitors.
McNealus, a first-year, scored exactly three minutes before halftime for an 8-0 Vixen lead.
Haisley saved Bullett and Jaden Nichols early in the second half, running off nine saves before Sweet Briar scored again. The Vixens would add one more as Bullett, a senior defender, recorded her first career goal in a Vixen uniform.
Off to the best start in program history, Sweet Briar (4-0, 1-0) faces a tough ODAC test next Saturday at a Shenandoah team that has made consecutive conference playoff appearances. Hollins drops to 0-4, 0-1.
