RICHMOND, Va. – The Sweet Briar IHSA team was named Reserve High Point Team at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) today after earning 40 points.
Senior
Chloe Kerschl (Lexington, Va.) was named High Point Rider after finishing in a four-way tie along with first-year
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.).
Kerschl was first in open fences and second in open flat while Vansickle finished first in limit flat and second in limit fences.
Also earning first-place finishes were sophomores
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.),
Emily Simmons (Fredericksburg, Va.) and
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) in open flat, limit fences and novice, respectively.
Junior
Cammee DeFelippo (Loveland, Colo.) had a good showing in the novice class as well with a second-place finish.
Two Vixens captured third-place finishes, senior
Jesseca Ballard (Leicester, N.C.) in pre-novice and first-year
Julianna McIntyre (Englewood, Fla.) in intro.
Highlights
- Both first-year Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and first-year Lainey Butler (Crozet, Va.) secured fourth-place finishes in intermediate fences and limit flat, respectively.
- Junior Sita Moses (Dublin, N.H.) finished fifth in intermediate flat while senior Jen Markey (Montpelier, Va.) finished sixth in intermediate fences.
- Kerschl has had two victories in open fences so far this season.
- Vansickle was first in limit fences for the third time this season.
What's Next
Sweet Briar will stay in the Richmond area with a show on Nov. 7 hosted by the University of Richmond at Haverhill Equestrian in Ashland, Va.
