MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – The Sweet Briar College field hockey team saw academic honors roll in from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) last week as 11 student-athletes were named the OPA Winning Teams NFHCA NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and four were hailed NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction.
Student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester to be named to the National Academic Squad were seniors
Molly Booth (Orono, Maine),
Lara Jost (Würzburg, Germany) and
Kailey McCarthy (Atkinson, N.H.), juniors
Sophia Bovino (Pittsburgh, Pa.),
Samantha Champion (Hampton, Va.),
Ashley Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.) and
Jenna Prevet (Nesconset, N.Y.), sophomore
Emmi Burdine (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and
Gigi Hutman (Bordentown, N.J.) and first-years
Veronica Barney (Leesburg, Va.) and
Bella Perdue (Richmond, Va.).
Additionally, Barney, Booth, Jost and McCarthy were recognized as Scholars of Distinction for their cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the fall semester.
This marks the fourth time that Booth, Jost and McCarthy have been named to the National Academic Squad, while Bovino, Champion, A. Prevet and J. Prevet have received the honor for the third time and Hutman for the second.
Booth and Jost have also been named Scholars of Distinction all four years of their collegiate career as McCarthy gets the nod for the second-straight season.
